August 4th, 2011 - Exploring the Ruins. Many years ago, I used to take better care of this place. In 2010, I posted once. In 2009, just 2 or 3 times. I guess I hit my peak around 2000 or 2001 (my buddy at work calls that my Golden Years). Prior to joining facebook.com/the.weezie, I posted everything up here and people used to visit fairly often to see what crazy crap was going on in my head or what sorts of adventures I'd been on. It's not that my life isn't interesting anymore. I mean, I'm sitting here today crying for the umpteenth time because my neighbor just brought over some flowers to say she was sorry that we had to put our dog Ziggy to sleep yesterday. Anyway, Facebook is a bit of a mixed blessing. Sure I get more exposure to all my friends and colleagues, but the 420 character limit is a bit of an impediment to somebody like me who likes to ramble. I guess it's the convenience of Facebook that lured me away from blogging. The fact that I don't have to worry about format or file management or any of that.... SO, here I am again. While I was gone, things didn't change that much and I have the lovely folks at Neoverve to thank for that. Just recently, I've started getting requests to administrate some strange comments about everything from Russian Brides to cheap pharmaceuticals. This made me feel really bad about the whole Weezie13 site like I'd abandoned it and didn't care any more. When I was a kid, my Mom took me to a cathedral in England some where. Maybe it was York. I'll have to ask her. Anyway, you can do this tour where you go underneath the cathedral and they've excavated out some old Roman ruins that the building was constructed on top of. What's crazy is that those ruins were built on top of some other ruins and they've carved out channels that you can look down to see this sort of architectural parfait of old civilizations. Looking back at old versions of this website reminds me of that moment. To help me out with some writing I'm supposed to be doing, I'm going to try blogging some more. I have no idea what I'm going to talk about, but it will be more than 420 characters. Oh, and since Blogger doesn't support the features I need anymore, there's no place for comments until I finally get around to figuring out TypePad. |
